DESCRIPTION

Having been a part of all six moon landings in history, the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster is an authentic icon of space exploration and OMEGA’s pioneering spirit.

In this 42 mm model, the history of the Speedmaster aboard the Apollo 8 mission is celebrated through the darkened movement, featuring laser ablation on the main plate and bridges to represent the moon's surface.

The near side can be admired through the skeletonized black anodized aluminum dial, and the far side is visible through the caseback.
Presented on a perforated black rubber strap with a yellow rubber interior, the watch is entirely crafted from black steel and includes a varnished yellow chronograph seconds hand and a laser-engraved tachymeter scale on the bezel filled with white enamel.

The small seconds sub-dial (patent pending) also features a steel hand shaped like the Saturn V rocket. This 3D shape is achieved by laser turning, while the colors are obtained through white varnish, ablation, and laser darkening.


The specially decorated movement is Quartz, ensuring accuracy and reliability when keeping time.

Quartz movement

With a Quartz movement, it is resistant to magnetic fields. Textured and darkened lunar relief on the main plate and bridges, featuring greater lunar detail compared to the previous Calibre 1869, thanks to defined laser engraving and contrasting surfaces.

MAIN MATERIALS

Steel

Steel alloys are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, inert, and withstand extreme temperatures, making them ideal for medicine, aircraft, and spacecraft. Steel stands out for its soft gray color, especially in pieces with a brushed finish.

Aluminum

Aluminum is lightweight and ideal for decorative components. Through anodization, it allows for a wide range of colors on bezels, dials, and hands. OMEGA has developed a special process that makes its bezels nearly twice as hard as conventional ones, offering greater resistance to scratches and external damage.

Sapphire Crystal

OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment and high scratch resistance. Produced by the Verneuil process, which melts the raw material until it crystallizes, it is virtually scratchproof and ensures total clarity on the dial
